Webinars
To participate in a webinar you need a computer with broadband internet access and a telephone. You will see the PowerPoint presentation on the computer and hear the lecture on your telephone. There is a "chat" section on the computer where you can type in questions for the speaker. The webinar host will also ask participants to verify their presence several times during the webinar, which is necessary in order to obtain CE credits for the session. Please confirm that your state regulations accept live internet continuing education credits.
Here are the directions to log into a webinar. This is done on the WEBEX website. After the conference, NEPC will mail CE credits to participants.
Once you register for the webinar on the NEPC website, you will receive an e-mail from NEPC with the meeting number and password, with these instructions below.
Directions to register for a webinar on the WEBEX website:
- Enter the webinar website: http://neconferences.webex.com – do not type the usual www.
- The Welcome window will direct you to enter this Meeting Number, which you will receive in an e-mail once you register.
- The next screen notes that the meeting has not started, but gives you an opportunity to register. Click on the Register button and fill in the requested registration information.
- The next screen will note that the meeting password and instructions for joining the webinar will be sent to your email address. Click View Meeting info to get an overview of the webinar or just click OK.
- Use the Web address, Meeting Number and Password to join the webinar. We will open the meeting 15 minutes prior to the lecture/webinar to give everyone a chance to log in.
- We recommend registration on the WEBEX website before the day of the webinar to familiarize yourself with the screens.
To join the webinar on the day of the lecture/webinar:
- Enter the web address.
- The Welcome screen will prompt you to enter the Meeting Number and press JOIN.
- Enter the password.
- Enter requested information in the "Join Meeting Now" section.
- The audio link to the live conference is provided by teleconference. Dial 1-408-792-6300 and follow the prompts to activate the teleconference. This may be a toll call, depending on your phone service. The audio will be "broadcast only," which means we may not be able to talk to each other except using the Chat window (due to hotel constraints with the phones).
- Your screens will change to the "Meeting in Progress" screen.
- You may be prompted to add or check a multimedia application. Just click OK, the initialization takes about 2 minutes.
- The "Meeting Screen" should now be present. The top of your screen should say: WEBEX Meeting Manager, with the name of the webinar host.
- Your screen will change as the PowerPoint presentation is loaded.
- Use the Chat feature to communicate with other participants and ask the speaker questions.
- If you lose the Web feed or audio, just re-enter the information above and re-join the webinar.
